Chapter 15

Remy

I remember my mom used to always say that women would be me and Junior’s downfall. She said our love was pure, and when it came to the woman of our hearts, there would be no limits to proving our love. Seeing how she was right about my brother, I stayed away from loving women until I thought I was ready. I thought it was something I could control if I was mature. But it was at this very moment that I understood what my mom was talking about. I always told her that I would let my heart choose, and Mel was it, but I’m fucking up already. I couldn’t go into retirement bringing attention to myself. I didn’t know if anybody saw my face the day Mel was shooting in the air. Our whips could be seen at Mel’s crib, and now Ron killed a nigga with Brooklyn in the car. Was this shit finally catching up with us? I was asking myself all types of questions. This shit was strange. I was going to fuck with shorty either way, but something had to change, and it needed to happen now.

I needed to get Ron out of doge. This nigga loved hard, and if he fucked with you, there was no questioning if he would ride for you. He was a little obsessed with Brooklyn, though. I could see that shit in his eyes. I was going to have his ass go back to Ohio because shit was too hot. We all met at the house, and I spoke with Ron alone. I let him know that we were moving wrong. Either we had to iron some shit out, or we were going to have to walk away from Brook and Mel. We both shook our heads because that was out of the question.

“You ready to see what shorty can handle? We need to lay low. We fucked up. We gotta get them on board, or we going to end up like Junior,” I said.

“What do you mean”? Ron asked.

“Bro was head deep for Red. She was changing that nigga and didn’t even know it,” I responded. I went on to tell Ron how Junior started slipping when he met his ex-girlfriend, Red. I told him that he fell in love with her and started going against the grain. Junior wanted everybody to know that he was her man, which also let everyone know his weak spot. The night he was killed, he was supposed to be at his hideaway spot because he had done a big job for this nigga in Cali. Red had a fashion show, and bro refused to miss it. Niggas were able to follow him, then shot him and her up. At least this was the short version I decided to share.

“Dang cousin, this some déjà vu shit for real. But nigga, I killed that nigga, so we’re good,” said Ron.

“Ain’t nothing about this shit good. We have never let it be
